2.       Desc. Difficulty Reason falls into on pp. 3-4. Do you agree? Why/WN?
3.       How does Kant describe Metaphys.’ Evolution on pp. 4-5. What is the current state of Metaphys, IKO.
4.       Explain K’s “critical investigation of pure reason” starting on top of p.6
5.       Put the last full paragraph on pp. 5-6 into your own words. This should be 7-8 sentences. This is where the thesis of the entire work starts to unfold.

  1. 1) Religion tries to make itself separate from critique but in doing so, it brings forth suspicion about religion. Also, it cannot be compared to reason because of how reason is showed respect because it has withstood public examination and been known to many.
    2) The difficulty reason falls into is that it has to consider all the questions posed by its own nature, but cannot answer all because it exceeds the mind. I do agree with this because humans everyday try to reason with and about God, just because it is human nature, and we simply cannot because we will never truly know until after our time.
    3) Kant describes Metaphysics' Evolution by saying that at first, metaphysics (she) was the queen of all the sciences and deserves the high importance of her object-matter. It was absolute power. But now, we believe it is worthless and deserves scorn. It now (her empire) has broke up, and wars introduced the reign of anarchy. We hoped these disputes would settle and metaphysics eventually fell back into the antiquated and rotten constitution of dogmatism, and again became obnoxious to the contempt from which efforts had been made to save it.
    4) Kant's critical investigation of pure reason was with reference to the cognition's to which it strives to attain without the aid of experience, and the determination if the origin, as well as of the extent and limits of this science. Kant has returned an evasive answer to the questions of reason by examining them completely in the light of principles, and, after discovering the cause of the doubts and contradictions into which reason fell, has solved them to its perfect satisfaction. Kant also believes it is the duty of philosophy to destroy illusions which had their origin in misconceptions, whatever darling hopes and valued expectations may be ruined by its explanations.
    5) We often hear of the lack of profound science today. But, sciences such as math and physical science, with a strong base, do not deserve an expression of disapproval. They have their own fame that surpass it. Without this solid base, other kinds of thoughts provoked by thought, experience, and the senses, doubt and criticism arise. Our age is the age of criticism, to which everything must fall to this. But, religion is often viewed as separate from this critical examination. Because of this, religion falls into suspicion and does not receive respect, while reason does.

  2. 1.) This day and age is the time of criticism. Everyone must submit to this criticism and assimilate. Religion, however consistently tries to exempt itself from this. By doing this they raise suspicion against themselves. The problem is that the only way for them to keep the respect that they have is by opening themselves to public examination.

2.) Reason is called upon to consider questions, which it cannot decline, as they are presented by its own nature. Adding to this it can't answer these question because they transcend the mind. It starts with principle that can't be dispensed in the field of experience but are at the same time insure by experience.

3.) Due to the actions of the so-called Queen, metaphysics fell back into the antiquated and rotten constitution of dogmatism, and "again became obnoxious to the contempt from which efforts had been made to save it." According to Kant, currently Metaphysics is weary and completely indifferent

4.) Kant's critical investigation of pure reason is an inquiry into the faculty of reason, as well as the cognitions it aspires to achieve without the help of experience. This must be done on the basis of principles.

5.) Only one path remains, the one I have entered. I've discovered the cause of, and the way to remove, all the errors that have set variance in itself, in the sphere of empirical thought. I haven't given an evasive answer to the question on reason but have actually thoroughly examined them in the light of principles, and discovered the cause of the doubts and contradictions reason fell into. I have solved them to its perfect satisfaction. These questions haven't been solved the way dogmatism expected them to because it can only be satisfied by magical arts which I have no knowledge in. It was the job of philosophy to destroy the illusions that originated from misconceptions. My main goal was thoroughness, and I can say that there isn't one metaphysical problem that won't find its solution or the key to it, in here. Pure reason is a perfect unity and any principle that doesn't find it's solution must be disregarded because we can not be perfectly certain of its efficiency.

  3. 1. Religion brings forth suspicion upon its ownself when it tries to separate from critique. With this said religion cannot be compared to reason for reason is already accepeted to the exposure of public exmanination.
2.Reason is called upon to consider questions, that it cannot decline for it is its nature but however it cannot answer all questions as they transcend every faculty of the mind. I agree with this because we humans reason with things that we can never fully grasp with our minds. This idea brings about the conception of God and his reality. We will never know until the day we meet him.
3.Kant describes Metaphysics as a queen. As a queen, her government was an absolute despotism. But as the legislative continued to show traces of the ancient barbaric rule her empire gradually faded. Metaphysics necessarily fell back into the antiquated and rotten constitution of dogmatism. Metaphysics is weary and completely indifferent.
    4. Kant's critical investigation of pure reason took place with the cognitions that which strive to attain without the aid of experince. The solution of the question regarding the possibilty or impossibility of metaphysics and the determinism of the origin as well as of the extent and limits of this science. These all must be used according to Kant through the basis of principles.
    5. Our age is the age of criticism, to which everything must be subjected. The sacredness of religion and the authority of legislation are by many regarded as grounds of exemption from the examination of this tribunal. They cannot be expemted for if they are they become subjects that of just suspicion. With that the subject doesnt get any mere respect from the public examination. This is why we need to stop having this lack of profoundness of the sciences. Sciences today such that of math and physics should not hear and get this sense of disproval. They need to form a strong base to avoid any sense of criticism and doubt.

  4. 1. Today people are always being critiqued, but religion becomes suspicious because it tries to separate itself from it. The reason why religion cannot be compared to reason because reason is has already been accepted by public critique.
    2. The difficulty of reason is that it is its nature but the problem faced with it is that it cannot answer all of the questions transcended in the mind. I agree with this because we try to use reason for things we cannot explain like religion or even the origin to our own thoughts.
    3. Kant describes Metaphysics as a "Queen" of all of the sciences. Metaphysics empire has been broken up we have to hope that disputes will settle and it will return to its constitution of dogmatism.
4.Kant's "critical investigation of pure reason” is that it strives to attain without reason. What does cognitions mean? By using the basis of principles Kant proves that it is possible that metaphysics could share the same extent or limits as the sciences.
    5. What is levity? This is the age of judgement that is just told to us and we just regorgeate it. We must use reason to self examine ourselves, also to establish a general tribunal. It must be critical to the investigation of pure reason. This is not a criticism of books but of the faculty of reason. It must meet the extent and limits of science. The most important part is that it must be done based on the basis of principles.

  5. 1. Criticism is very alive and prevalent in this age. Religion attempts to separate itself from critique which creates suspicion. Reason is destined to be examined publicly.
    2. Reason is called upon to consider questions. However, reason cant answer every question that occurs in the human mind. I agree because Humans try to reason everyday about things that aren't tangible, like God, Love etc., these things rely more on faith.
3.Kant describes Metaphysics as a queen, Due to the numerous changes in society her empire began to fade away. Metaphysics became antiquated . It faded due to dogmatism. Metaphysics simply became outdated.
    4. Kants investigation of pure reason, he strives to attain cognition, without the aid of experience. This had to be achieved through the basis of principles.
    5. The current age is the age of criticism .Math and physical sciences that facts to back them up. Therefore, they should be subjected to less criticism. Religion and authority can lack reason at times , and it is subject to a lot f criticism.Religion lacks the strong base to rid itself of doubt. Religion also goes a step further into the realm of suspicion.Philosophy's purpose is to instill ideas and reason about life's sciences, at the same time, philosophy can provide criticism and doubt about those subjects.

  6. 1) Religion does not like to be critiqued so it separates itself. However, this brings more suspicion about religion. Religion cannot be compared to reason because reason is shown respect and has been publicly examined and known to many.
    2) The difficulty reason falls into is that it has to consider all the questions posed by its own nature, but cannot answer all because it exceeds the mind. I do agree with this because humans try to reason and understand things in the physical and supernatural world, and we simply cannot.
    3) Kant describes Metaphysics' Evolution by saying that, metaphysics was the queen of sciences and deserves high importance. However, it is worthless and deserves scorn. It has been destroyed, which introduced anarchy rule. The anarchy should be solved and metaphysics fall back into power.
    4) Kant's critical investigation of pure reason was to determine the origin, as well as the extent and limits. Kant has returned an answer to questions that are asked about reason by examining them the principles and solving all the contradictions about them.
    5) Sciences such as math and physical science do not deserve disapproval. They have a solid back ground. However without this solid base, thoughts are run by, experience, the senses, doubt, and criticism. Criticism is most important. However religion has separated itself from critical examination. Therefore, religion falls into suspicion and will not receive respect!

  7. 1. Although it is an age of criticism, religion separates itself from the critique. In doing so, religion brings suspicion onto itself. Religion is incomparable to reason because reason does not dodge suspicion but instead accepts the challenge.
    2. The difficulty of reason is that it has to question everything. In doing so, it confuses itself because it cannot understand what it has not experienced. I agree with this because people struggle to understand complex ideas every day including the existence of God and what happens after death.
    3. Metaphysics used to be the queen of the sciences until it started being questioned and critiqued. The hope for metaphysics was that it could outright defend itself from any attacks but that has not been the case. Metaphysics has now gone to hide from any other scorn because it could not stand the bombardment of criticism.
    4. Kant wants to find the outright answer of the possibility or impossibility of metaphysics through reason. He wants to find the extent of the science by being as thorough as possible and finding legitimate truths which are undeniable.Through the light of principles, Kant has made sure that there is not a single metaphysical problem without some type of answer.
    5. Some say that they are indifferent to the reality of metaphysics and the double faced role that it has on us. We must use reason and self-examination in order to create an central belief system. Pure reason must be used in order to weed out the unnecessary and arguable parts of metaphysics. Kant has taken it upon himself in attempt to create a central base for our thought and mind. Kant has not gone about this without providing factual evidence but it also cannot be conceived by our human minds. Kant's thoroughness has provided the age of criticism with perfect reason which cannot be critiqued.

  8. 1. The authenticity of religion must be questioned as in an era of doubt and critique the attempt of this critique being applied to it often is met with hostility as the religious tend to not want their faith to doubted in such a manner.
    2. The problem with reason is that it attempts to solve all things through using logic. All things can't be known to people however so that is a major flaw with the field.
I agree with this because people have always struggled with this and they always will.
    3. Metaphysics was once the "queen" but as time progressed it was challenged so much that in today's world it is outdated.
    4. Kants investigation was based in the search for the absolute form of reason. Without experience Kant aimed to find the boundaries of reason.
    5. We live in the age of science and doubt so we must commit fully to this age. Nothing can be sacred. Attaining a higher understanding of reason and making this reason the center of our lives is essential. Philosophy must take religions spot in society as it allows doubt to be cast upon itself. It welcomes critique.

  9. 1. At the time, critique was the way to express oneself, and share ideas on how things should change, and be updated. Just about everything was open to critique, however the Religion is the only thing that can not be critiqued. This is suspicious because if the religion is about its people, it needs to listen to the people, and not avoid being critiqued for the better of the establishment.
    2. Reason is a good and bad things. It is was separates humans from other animals. However, as natural as it is it can not provide us every answer that we want it to. This is correct because we put ourselves in situations in life where we do not know the answers, and most of time never will, and even with reason, we can not get to know everything we want.
    3. Kant believes that metaphysics was once viable, and able to help with a lot of explanation. However he thinks that humans have turned from metaphysics, causing it to break apart. Kant wants metaphysics to come back on top one day.
    4. Kant as a believer in metaphysics wanted to prove that it could be useful. So in his philosophy he found that in the critique of pure reason, we can come to know things with out experience. With this he finds that metaphysics is a viable part of critique philosophy.
    5. Recently, there have been many complaints against the descending use of math and science. Why? Is this because of the use of critique instead? Because math and science are useful, and with use can be found very helpful. This would be the same across all subjects if the same effort was put forth. However in the time, everything is based around criticism. Yet again, religion is "exempt" from this critique. Should they be allowed this exemption?

  10. 1. In this day and age, everything is being critiqued. However, religion tries to separate itself from that. Because of this separation, more suspicion has been brought to it. Reason and religion are different because reason has already accepted the criticism.
    2. The difficulty that reason has to deal with is that everything that deals with reason must be questioned. However, not all of the questions can be answered because it is too much for the mind. I agree with this because people struggle with these types of questions all the time and have yet to find answers and solutions for all of these questions.
    3. Kant describes metaphysics as a queen of the sciences until it begins to be questioned. He thought that metaphysics could defend itself on its own but that did not happen. According to Kant, metaphysics is currently weary and completely indifferent.
    4. Kant's "critical investigation of pure reason" is a critical inquiry into the faculty of reason, with reference to the cognitions to which it strives to attain without the aid of experience.
    5. Presently, our age is the age of criticism. Math and sciences have facts to back them up. Therefore, they should be subjected to less criticism. Religion and authority can lack reason at times , and it is subject to a lot f criticism. Religion lacks the strong base to rid itself of doubt. Religion also goes a step further into the realm of suspicion.Philosophy's purpose is to create ideas and reason about life's sciences. However, philosophy can provide criticism and doubt about those subjects.

  11. 1) This slide talks about how we all try to find a way to judge anything we can. religion is a primary source of this. They try to not by making rules showing that they do not. In doing this, it raises curiosity of outsiders.
2)Reason is used to consider situations and problems in our lives. Including ones that we cannot solve. Experience helps to solve this and give us the knowledge to solve more problems as we go through life. Even with all this we cannot solve all of our problems.
3)Kant says that metaphysics was once a great subject of thought, but now it has fallen to a low state.
4)Kant says that reason strives to attain what we cannot attain. We try to solve problems that we cannot. a priori
5)The last paragraph talks about human reason. When he talks about this we see that we try to solve problems that we cannot solve. In doing this we are left in an endless cycle of uncertainty. Kant disagrees with this because he wants everything to be certain. This idea is basically 'a priori.' A priori fits in here because we have only certain knowledge that we can attain and the rest we must try to sole with our own reason. We cannot do this however because we do not know how to.

  12. 1. In a world where reason is king, everything must be susceptible to critique. This is where religion become suspicious as it tries to separate from critique. To better itself, religion must be allow critique of itself by its people.

    2. The difficulty reason runs into is that its duty is to solve all problems no matter what. This is a problem because these problems are mostly in realms where people have not experienced such as death and the existence of a higher power. I agree with the statement because reason does bite off more than it can chew and it confuses many with the problems it tries to solve.

    3. Kant describes metaphysics as a queen who lost her power and kingdom. Kant described it as the queen of all sciences and now it has become worthless and discarded. Kant makes it his mission to bring back metaphysics from this state.

    4. Kant's critical investigation of pure reason was to find the origin and the boundaries of what reason can do. Kant does this by examining reason's principles and solving their problems.

    5. With the totality use of reason, we must use it to govern all. Sciences like math and physics have facts that hold them to a level of no critique. This however is because they have fact as their base. Any kind of science that does not have fact as its base needs to be critiqued. Case in point is religion. Religion tries to separate itself from reason and critique for fear that it will not survive critique. It is our duty as reasonable beings to critique and make religion work and solve its problems.

  13. 1. The critique was used to express someone, and their methods of change. Everything was and does have the ability to be critique, except for one's religious beliefs.
2.Reason can be both good and a bad thing. It's what separates us from other species. But, reason can not provide us for every answer that we need and that we must find it also.
3.Metaphysics to Kant is a viable source, it helps us to find explanation to our questions. He believes we turned away from it though. He wishes that it will come back.
    4. Kant still believes that metaphysics can still be of use to us, because we still need it. In this we can know things without any experience. This shows that metaphysics is still a useful part of critique philosophy.
    5. In this day we live in we use science a lot to find the solution and the true experience. I t helps us find a certainty about what we are looking for which is good.

  14. 1. There are occurrences of critiques everywhere, but where it can be most prominent is within religion. When it comes to reason, religion does not apply in the sense of proving a greater God, because reason uses skepticism and rationality.
    2. The issue with reason is that it tends to always create new questions in order to explain further reasoning. Sometimes using reason in one realm will not coincide or make sense within another means of logic from reason.
    3. Kant's metaphysics was at one point the pinnacle, or the queen of science. It establishes a type of way one can think when it comes to things relating in between human tendencies and the source of science.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 4. Kant's critical investigation of pure reason is not based solely on a critique. The issue being addressed is with reference to the existence and occurence of something. A priori is the possible metaphysics that happen within his critical investigation, and that is what defines logic.
    5. The issues of the metaphysical world have been fixed by Kant. Kant is confident that after his examination philosphy in the sense of reason, he can bring answers that no one has been able to in the past. Reason alone has been his means of answering problems, and that creates the logic neccesary for philosophy. Kant's biggest priority is to make it clear that anything that exists in the basis of reason, can and will always have some type of solution to it. Primariliy from the previous facts of that happening, anything that cannot be solved from reason must be discarded.

  16. 1. No one man can go in this world without being criticized. People of religious affiliation believe that they may not be criticized but in fact they will. They make up a suspicion about themselves and cannot prove that reason only appeals to those that can endure “free and public examination”.
    2. Reason falls into the difficulty of finding more reason. The cycle of finding reason is a never-ending cycle because there is no end to reason. Everything that is reasoned requires more reason. I.e. The stove burned me. “Why?” Because it is hot. “Why is it hot?”... and the discussion keeps going without an end. I agree with this because logically it is true. Every reason can still be broken down into more reasons.
    3. Metaphysics’ evolution begins with metaphysics as the queen of all sciences. Metaphysics deserved this respect because of its influence as the basis of philosophy. Now metaphysics has fallen and is now see with “contempt and scorn”. Metaphysics’ “empire” gradually broke up and fell.
    4. The critical investigation of pure reason involves the possibility or impossibility of truth in metaphysics. This includes where it came from and where it can possibly go. Kant claims that he has gone into this investigation and has solved it himself and that all those who came before may have been close but they were not as correct as he was.
    5. Often we hear lamentations about the ignorance of the present age and how science has decayed from the past. I do not think that the truest sciences such as math, physical science, etc. deserve to be hated or criticized negatively. They should continue to be strong truths and continue to be built upon as time progresses. Other things known should also continue to be firmly established and not hated upon. The age we live in is a time of complete criticism and everything must be subject to criticism. Religion and legislation are believed to be exempted from criticism by many. If they are exempted from this that only makes them more skeptical. Things that are not completely sure and cannot be judged cannot be trusted.

  17. 1) We live in a generation where society is critical about you do or say. However, religion separates itself bring confusion. It's free to the public but not examined by the public.

    2) Yes, I do agree . Human reason is called to answers questions in which it cannot answer. It's labours must remain incomplete because new questions never cease to present themselves. It finds itself compelled to have recourse to principles which transcend the region of experience.

    3) The current state of Metaphysics fell back into the antiquated and rotten constitution of dogmatism, and again became obnoxious to the contempt from which efforts had been made to save it.

    4) Kant's critical investigation of pure reason is an inquiry into the faculty of reason. The cognitions aspires to achieve without the help of experience. This must be done on the basis of principles.

    5) Society should not judge the past predecessors for our foundation today. In their absence of security , indifference , doubt , and severe criticism are rather signs of profound habit. Our age is the age of the most criticism. Everything must be subjected. If they are exempted , they become the subjects of just suspicion. And they cannot lay claim to sincere respect.

  18. 1) religions are primarily a source they try to not by making rules showing that they do not. In doing this, it raises curiosity of outsiders.

2)Reason is used to consider situations and problems in our lives. Including ones that we cannot solve. Experience helps to solve this and give us the knowledge to solve more problems as we go through life. Even with all this we cannot solve all of our problems.

2.the problems with reasons that instead of creating more answers it does the exact opposite and makes more questions, what helps us with this is experience which allows the answers to arise from it.
3.his metaphysics was the tip top subject of science which breaches the boundaries humans and science.
    4. kant uses his time to observe the properties of reason and how it changes others.

  21. 1. The age of criticism is everything that needs to submit. Religion is the holy order that people commonly seek so save themselves and become free of public examination.
    2. The difficulty reason begins with basic principles. But it is always incomplete because new questions are always arising. I agree because it just makes the most sense to believe it.
    3. His metaphysics on evolution were basically described as the start of all science. His metaphysics have become common and lazy.
    4. K’s critical investigation of pure reason explains the truth in metaphysics. It also explains how Kant found answers from himself when he had to find them.
    5. We as a people often hear complaints and how people overreact to the smallest things. Then moves to how our age of life is made of criticism. People tend to be subjects of curiosity which makes them examine things through. The answer to the question of reason is limited by the faults of the mind. Metaphysical problems tend to not have solutions at first but eventually find the key to solve them.

  22. 1. Nothing in this time we live in is safe from being criticized by anybody. Religion is supposedly an exception to this criticism, however, they strive to be free of it which really brings about more suspicion. Do to this suspicion religion is constantly criticized daily.
    2. Anything that is considered "reasonable" must be questioned. Not all of the questions we may have can be easily answered, do to our limited knowledge and because of this Ii agree. There are many unanswered questions that we may not be able to reasonably answer.
    3. He talks about how important and dominant metaphysics was back then and how it was a necessity. However, in today's society it seems more uncommon and old.
    4. Kant attempted to completely know the whereabouts of the properties of reason and how they could impact or affect people.
    5. In the current day and age, we are faced with criticism all the time. we seem to be allowing our necessary topics crumble and fall to pieces. Math and science are being ignored and dulled by people, and these are crucial to humans. Rather than losing touch with these subjects, they should be worshiped and dominant in our society. These are not the only things being broken down by us humans, but everything around us is being dulled by society. Many people have grown suspicious of these subjects due to their controversial and open minded topics.Even though these topics may never fully be understood, and will constantly be criticized, it may be a good thing that they are questioned so they can be looked at more in depth. In doing this, they will be more valued and appreciated.

  23. 1) Religion tries to isolate itself as a subject from critique, is excluded from this comparison because it has gained the respect of the public. n its attempt to do so it creates speculation in the public eye.
    2) "The difficulty reason falls into" is that it creates questions beyond human comprehension. I agree with this because we as humans try to use reason to understand things that are above us such as the existence of heaven and God but we won't know these answers until we are dead.
    3) Kant describes Metaphysics' Evolution by comparing metaphysics to a human queen. The queen ruled over all the subjects and deserved the attention. In modern day the queen's value has faded. Periods of war and violence led to the decline of the queen's empire.
    4) Kant's critical investigation of pure reason was how humans understand problems, limitations, and derivations without help. Kant believed philosophy had a mission to knock down all misconceptions .
    5) In the modern day the lack of depth in science is widely conversed. Out of all the sciences math and physical science don't deserve to be viewed with disapproval. They are both widely recognized in their respected field of studies. Without a strong base problems and questions arise. Questions arise because in modern day times criticism is the main focus in which everything must pass through. Religion in this case eludes this discussion because it isolates itself from criticism. This is why religion doesn't gain respect and there is public speculation.
