Marxism- Rest of Ch. 1

Link to Text: Here

1. To many, Globalism and the world economy  have been praised. What do you think Karl Marx would say given this quote "The need of a constantly expanding market for its products chases the bourgeoisie over the entire surface of the globe. It must nestle everywhere, settle everywhere, establish connexions everywhere." What would Marx's main issues with Globalism be.

2. What do you think Marx means by "the rapid improvement of all instruments of production, by the immensely facilitated means of communication, draws all, even the most barbarian, nations into civilisation." How is this possibly different in 2015 with the amount of technology we have?

3. Capitalism, at its core, is about profit and expansion. How does Marx feel about these two concepts. Give examples from the reading.

4. Give me a paragraph on the conditions of the proletariat as Marx understands it. What examples or comparisons does he give? Use examples from the reading.

5. Re-write the last two paragraphs in your own words. What is Marx describing here?

25 comments:

  1. 1. Marx would hate the same corporations gaining money and power all across the globe, leaving workers from multiple countries making them money and not money for themselves.

    2. Technology has advanced to a level where its growth has developed nations and its people more than governments.

    3. Marx thought profit and expansion were selfish as in his communist blueprints he wants all property to belong to the state and no man profiting.

    4. Marx believes the proletariat are suffering servants. Marx believes they are influenced greatly by the burgoise. If they are greatly unfair, they influence the proletariat to respond. This response is revolution.

    5. All governments have been based on the suffering of the lower class. These poor people continue to be oppressed. They continue to be pushed farther down the totem pole. Society can't continue to allow the rich to suppress the poor.

Fair wages are the only way to end this oppression. To level the playing field would be to end class warfare. Equal wages takes away the rich's power. The poor will finally get a chance at success.

  2. 1. Marx would have a main problem with Globalism would be that classes will affect the expansion and growth of the global market. He would also have a problem with the "The need of constantly expanding market for its products chases the bourgeoisie over the entire surface of the globe."
2.Marx means that with improvement of technology that anyone has the ability to advance as a civilization. We see this today because people will use technology to help the third world civilization with basic needs. Like how we are able to use technology to help countries in Africa to get clean drinking water.

    1. 3. Marx believed everyone should be equal so he would see profit and expansion as being selfish.
      4. Marx saw the proletariat as suffering servants. He sees the proletariats as greatly influenced by the burgoise. The response they could have is revolution.

  3. 1. Marx would probably find issue in the fact of bourgeoisie expanding also implies that more people will recognize they are also proletarians. These people in Marx's eyes will begin to think of their place in the system the bourgeoisie has spread to them and become the down fall of the every system.

    2. Marx may be saying humans in any culture wish to improve their way of life on a day to day basics and the improvements of tools is tempting to say the least.

    3. For Marx profit is replaced any to all charm and virtues that a person may have. Money erases any holy or honorable qualities a person has instilled in them such as where he states-" It has resolved personal worth into exchange value, and in place of the numberless indefeasible chartered freedoms, has set up that single, unconscionable freedom — Free Trade"
For Expansion Marx hints at how it will ultimately lead to it own end as change is a set standard in expansion.

  4. Marx would say that the corporations of money and separation of class would expand farther.

    2. Technology grown to the points which over shadow the governments of the world.

    3. Marx viewed profit for the individual as an unjust idea and it is more important for the state as a whole to have the profits.

    4. Proletariat are servants, who suffer under the hands of the Burgoise. The response is revolution.

    5. Governments built of the suffering of the lower class. The suffering of people continues to grow as the rich tighten their grasp tighter.

Equality and sharing between the social classes are to only way to end the fight and suffering. Thus the poor will become successful just like the rich.

  5. 1) Marx would have a problem with globalism because he has a problem with capitalism. He expressed his views on a government that he would like in the communist manifesto.
    2) Marx is saying that there is no way to be left behind today. There is no way for anyone to have any excuse to not be connected in today's world.
    3) Marx did not like these ideas because he viewed them as only the state profiting and not any individual person.
    4) Marx views the proletariat as laborers. He sees them as the poor workers for the rich upper class. They are slaves in a way and do not profit at all.
    5) All governments profit off of the work of the working class. They cannot work to come up on the social class scale because they are constantly being put down. They need to work to get higher up on the scale but their work cannot allow them to.

  6. 1.marx would struggle with the growth of globalism and the classes along with it that would expand also.
2.many wants to improve their ways of ideal living. With technology any person can better theirselves.
3.to him profit was selfish and not just. But it's more of value to the whole of people to make profits.
    4. To Marx proletariats are suffering servants. They are more influence by burgoise , which was the response was revolution.
5.they put the servants in the lower class. The servant continues to suffer as the rich gets stronger.
Fair wage would be an equal to people that need it. All of the struggle of oppression would end welfare. It could give the poor an opportunity to make the best of their situations.

  7. 1. Marx would have issues with the capitalistic advances and progressions of money, from the more wealthy people using their money to make more money.

    2. A major growth in the modern world is the advancements in technology, which is creating a whole new way of life for the people who can afford it.

    3. Marx is the supporter of equality in which profit goes out to benefit everyone, if everyone has the willpower to participate and contribute to the whole instead of taking it and running.

    4. The proletariat is see by Marx as servants to the Burgoise. They are suffering and Marx believes their response to it revolution amongst all of them.

    5. Governments are constructed around the wellbeing of the poor and suffering class, this is an attempt to better their class, from rejection of oppression they can grow and evolve into a new class. As they move up so do the rich classes.

  8. 1. I feel he would disagree with it because he does not agree with globalism so it wouldn't turn out good. His main issue would probably be with the fact of them trying to spread it over to people because it will corrupt.

    2. I think he means that when we progress at an excessive speed I tends to turn out in a manor of regret. If it is different now it will eventually go back to the old ways because we constantly move.

    3. I feel he doesn't agree with the term profit but when it comes to expansion he could agree because it helps people understand more.

    4. He believes that as the lower classes of people suffer they gain no support instead they just are pushed down more. It doesn't help that they are also influenced to s point where they don't understand theirselves. But this will all lead to an eventual rebellion.

    5. I feel he is saying that people's existences sways the bourgeois to form people into classes. Then makes advances into industry and how that can affect the people. Which then makes the people suffer because they cannot keep up with how they are treated and makes them slowly lose their dignity.

  9. 1. Marx would have an issue with globalism due to his apparent issue with capitalism, and the expansion that it is in the midst of.
    2. Marx expresses that it is nearly impossible for someone to not be involved with society today. The technology and social media today make it easy for us to be involved.
    3. Profit is injustice to Marx. It was selfish for a person to profit, but it is necessary at this point.
    4. They are suffering servants according to Marx. The bourgeoise is influential to them,Revolution was the response.
    5. The servants are left to suffer while the wealthy class are living life in great comfort and glory. The lower class and the higher class were very different, one being extremely uncomfortable and dreadful, and the other being very cozy and nice.

Some people may need equal wage due to their struggle to survive and provide. Those that are struggling would be given a chance, or an opportunity, to provide for themselves and strive to work harder.

  10. 1.) Karl Marx would loathe the idea of globalism. The fact that the world all over would make profit is good in theory. However, Marx would make the point that since it is based in capitalism, one party will be unfairly treated through the bourgeoisie prolitariate relationship.

2.) What Marx is saying is that with the blossoming technology of today, there is no way that one person can be disconnected from society. And with the invention of social media, no one is disconnected from society.

3.) Marx hated these ideas of profit and expansion because it promotes individual bias over the state and others. This leads to fighting and war over material objects.

4.) Marx believes that the prolitariate are suffering slaves to the higher classes. He believes that no one profits from their work and they are a.ways abused by the higher class. ,are calls for revolution of the working class in order to be equal.

  11. 1) Marx would have an issue with how the corporations take advantage of their workers. He would compare the corporations to the bourgeoisie in the Communist Manifesto.
    2) Marx is saying that technology is an asset to improving civilization. Today technology attracts the secluded(barbarians) and has the ability to connect multiple civilizations all over the world.
    3) Marx sees profit and expansion as selfish and something that is wrong. He doesn't agree with how the bourgeoisie makes massive amounts of money and the workers make close to nothing.

  12. 5.) Governments over the world are built around the population of people in an area. This is a way to better people's living standards as people have the power to control how they are ruled and governed.

  13. 1. Marx would not be fond of Globalism because in this concept, it is establishing a connection of big businessess across the world. The problem that Marx would have is in this process, it would crest even more distinction within classes, and more proletarians.
    2. With more technology at this time, and more ways of distributing it, it can reach many regions making these regions to be considered "civilized." In today's world, technology has influenced our world so much because you can have an infinite amount of information at your finger tips.
    3. In and of themselves I think Marx thinks that expansion is not bad. Profit could be seen as bad because Marx thinks money takes out the good qualities in a person. "What the bourgeoisie therefore produces, above all, are its own grave-diggers."
    4. The proleteriats are the workers in the industry. He seems them as mistreated, and poor. Marx wants people to be equal, but in the way of industry it is extremely unfair. "The proletariat goes through various stages of development. With its birth begins its struggle with the bourgeoisie. At first the contest is carried on by individual labourers, then by the workpeople of a factory, then by the operative of one trade, in one locality, against the individual bourgeois who directly exploits them."
    5. Just like the old ways of kingdoms the serfs stay at the bottom. These people who are at the lower end of classes, are continually mistreated. It is a cycle that the poor are oppressed under, and cannot get in.
In the work force, the wages are established by the competition in the certain area of work. The companies are coherent in establishing the wage-labour in its certain. This is some what hypnotist all becuase the foundation of these companies rely on the workers, yet still figure to hurt their employees.

  14. 1. Marx would have issues with globalism because he wouldn't agree with one business receiving and controlling that amount of money.

2.Marx believes in the importance of communication, and if technology allows communication to be enhanced , then it is very beneficial.

3.Marx wouldn't believe in a person receiving a great amount of profit compared to everyone else. In this instance, Marx believed in equality.

    4. Marx believes that the proletariat are servants. The Bourgeoisie are seen the masters. To change this, Marx believes in revolution.

    5. Governments have a base which relies on the lower class. In order for people to prosper, some have to suffer. The bourgeoisie are the ones benefiting from the proletariat.

  15. 1. Marx's issue with Globalism would be that it continues to strengthen the bourgeoisie and keeps the proletarians at the bottom. This class struggle was on of the main points which Marx wished to dissolve.
    2. Cheap prices and rapid supply of necessary and useful goods bring all countries, even those who try and stay away from industrialization, out to trade and buy. In 2015, technology has spread to almost everywhere as it becomes an essential part of our daily lives.
    3. Profit and expansion, for Marx, are selfish. There should not be profit for the individual because all should be equal. Property should belong to the state and not to the individual.
    4. The proletarians are suffering people who do work for the gain of the bourgeoisie. Proletarians have lost all individual character and are constantly exploited to do the tough work. The life of the proletariat is a constant struggle as they continue to be forced to work for others.
    5. All society has been built on those who have to do the difficult work. Unlike the serfs, who rose in power with change, the modern laborer sinks deeper the power chart as the bourgeoisie continue to oppress. The bourgeoisie are incompetent to rule because they are so heavily reliant on others to keep them at the top.

The growth of capital comes through wage labor. Bourgeoisie rely on the proletarians in order to sustain their power ranking. The bourgeoisie will intimately collapse in power because of their reliance on those who these oppress.

  17. 1) Marx would not agree with globalism because he would not like the business controlling everything, rather everything equal, stated in the Communist Manifesto.

    2) Marx is expressing how technology has taken over the world, how humans are so reliant on technology, that government sometimes gets "thrown under the bus" and pushed out of people's minds.

    3) Marx does not agree with capitalism, profit and expansion, because Marx believed everyone deserved the same thing and the same amount, which is better known as communism.

    4) Marx sees the proletariat's as workers and laborers. But to others, they are seen as tools to get a job done, like slaves. They experience the constant struggle of being workers even when they are born and the hardships in the industry as well.

    5) Marx is attempting to describe how poor people have this sense of being left out, along with the feeling that they can not move social classes due to this and they are stuck there forever.
Marx also explains how companies still degrade their workers, when these very workers are the ones providing the company or industry with the items they need, along with the profit.

  18. 1. Globalism, establishing big business connections all over creating even more distinctions between the classes would cause many issues from Marx.
    2. More an more technology being created making it easier to spread across the world has made the third world countries advance at a faster paste with this sense of unlimited information at our finger tips. Making the civilization process to speed up even in the poorest areas.
3.To him it is selfish for a person to profit but considering to today's' world it is at the most acceptable and needed."The bourgeoisie therefore produces, above all, are its own grave-diggers."
4.The workers in the industry are the proletarians. Marx wants people to be equal but sees the workers to be mistreated. The proletarians go through a lot of stage of developments and starting from birth the struggle with bourgeoisie begins.

  20. 1marx would dislike globalization because it would buissness the controlling power and not equal like he states in the communist manifesto.
2.he is stating that when we advance in technology it's impossible for the most barbaric of people have to come in order to be profitable.
3he believed that everything needed to be equal just like communism
4.marx sees that the proletarians are just workers and laborers, which are constantly struggling to advance higher in the industry.
5.marx is trying to talk about how the poor are left out they feel as though the poor will never move up in their social class.

  22. 1. Marx would say that the corporations that are the separation of classes and money would expand exponentially.

    2. Technology would grow to a dangerous point where it would take over governments and the world.

    3. Marx thought it was unjust for individuals to profit and instead thought it would be just for the state to profit as a whole.

    4. Proletariat are servants, who suffer under the hands of the Bourgeoise whom are the wealthy. The response to the treatment of them and the conditions they live under is revolution.

    5. Governments are built on the suffering of the lower class. The suffering of people continues to intensify as the rich tighten their grip on society and the government. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.

Equality and sharing between the social classes is the only way to make a perfect government and end the conflicts. Everyone must cooperate and share their knowledge for all to succeed. Thus the poor will become successful just like the rich.

  24. 1. Marx's main issue with Globalism would be shown in the Paris Manuscripts (1844). Here he put hard critiques upon capitalism so he would not like globalism. Connections should not be established everywhere according to Karl Marx.

    2. Marx is saying that all of the technology we have today makes it easy for everybody to be civilized and informed. The technology we have in the world brings us together and allows everybody to function as one.

    3. Marx does not like this because he feels that the profit and expansion does not benefit the people at all.

    4. The proletariat is just used by the richer man. The proletariat does all of the work and gets the least benefits from the work. The man higher up in the chain reaps all of the benefits of the work of the proletariat. The proletariat are basically slaves used for the purpose of making the rich man richer.

    5. Every society depends on workers who work as slaves and are not rewarded well. To keep putting pressure on a class there must be certain criteria in order to keep them "enslaved". The worker's situation becomes worse while the rich man becomes richer. The worker slowly becomes a slave and this relationship between the worker and the employer grows. The employer then becomes more powerful and his power grows. Society should not be like this. No one group of people can continue to be oppressed through long periods of time.

The proletariats work hard for the profit of their employers. Their labor reflects the wealth of their employer. Profit completely depends on the labor of the workers of the employer. The work of the laborers also helps the industry to advance as well. As the proletariats work, they are slowly digging their graves deeper and deeper until it is time for their fall. The proletariat will inevitably continue to fall.
